Crack Comedy's Stand Up Course - Starting September 2021

There isn’t one type of comedy out there, but there is only one way to do stand-up comedy - and that is to stand up and do it!

In this six-week program, we cover the basics of the craft of stand-up comedy. The course is taught by British-based American comic Erich McElroy and at Crack Comedy in Kingston; Kingston’s longest running comedy club.

The classroom is an intimate, 60 seater venue and the perfect intimate space for what might be your first ever gig.
The course is appropriate for those brand new to comedy and who want to give it a try, as well as for newer performers who want to gain more confidence, sharpen their performance and learn about the business of stand-up comedy.

The course will:
Cover how to be natural and comfortable on stage
Provide a chance to get up, try your ideas and get continuing feedback
Give you the skills to be a great MC
Cover the 'do’s and don’t’s' of talking to the audience
Help you structure your set, find your voice and learn what you want to present to the audience
Cover practical tips for getting gigs or maybe even start your own.

About Your Instructor
Erich has been a professional stand-up in the UK for more than 15 years. He’s performed at The Comedy Store, Glee Club, The Stand, The Frog and Bucket, Covent Garden Comedy, 99 Club, Krater Comedy at the Komedia. He’s performed six full length Edinburgh solo shows. Additionally, Erich has promoted venues for many years and has an insider's perspective on what makes a comedy night great and a comic fantastic.

The program is five weeks of classes with a final sixth week of a live performance. Each session you will get a chance to get on stage - initially with fellow classmates and then with a showcase.

By the end of the course you will have honed in on your material, style, execution, and delivery so that you have the confidence to nail a performance with ease. You will have identified your areas of natural talent, and you will leave with your imagination and creativity in high gear ready to take on any audience.

Each course is limited to only twelve participants.

Great night and the venue were brilliant in making sure we had disabled access (which is step free plus they have a designated toilet). The queue for the bar at the break was quite long but the venue made sure to lay on an extra pair of hands for the second break which was much appreciated. The comedy was diverse and catered for everyone and we shall be returning again. My thanks.
